Code of Conduct for Events, Programs, and Networking Activities
I. Purpose and Scope
The Colorado Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (COHCC) is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at all events, programs, leads groups, trainings, committee meetings, and networking activities.
This Code of Conduct applies to all participants, including members, non-members, sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, staff, contractors, and volunteers.
Registration or attendance at any COHCC event constitutes agreement to abide by this Code and all related Chamber policies.
II. Professional Conduct
All participants are expected to:
-
Conduct themselves professionally and courteously toward others at all times.
-
Demonstrate respect for diverse backgrounds, cultures, opinions, and identities.
-
Refrain from disruptive, disrespectful, or inappropriate behavior—including loud, aggressive, or intoxicated conduct that detracts from the event’s purpose.
-
Represent their organizations and the Chamber with integrity, aligning with COHCC’s mission to promote collaboration, leadership, and equitable opportunity.
III. Anti-Harassment Policy
COHCC maintains a zero-tolerance policy for harassment of any kind, including verbal, physical, or visual conduct based on gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected status.
Examples of prohibited behavior include:
-
Unwelcome sexual advances or suggestive comments.
-
Offensive jokes, slurs, or derogatory remarks.
-
Intimidation, threats, or stalking (in person or online).
-
Disrupting sessions, presentations, or performances.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. COHCC reserves the right to remove any violator without refund and may deny future participation.
IV. Networking and Solicitation Guidelines
Purpose of Events: COHCC programs, events, and networking events are designed to enable connection, collaboration, and learning among members, sponsors, and guests. They are not open-format marketplaces. Participation is limited to attending the event as scheduled — conversations, networking, and engagement — rather than independently creating display/sales stations.
No-Solicitation / “No Suitcasing” Rule:
-
Attendees may not sell, sample, or distribute promotional materials except within an approved exhibitor or sponsor space.
-
Walk-around solicitation, unapproved displays, or product sampling are prohibited.
-
Violators may be removed from the event without refund and may lose future privileges.
Members vs. Sponsors/Exhibitors:
V. Food & Beverage Sampling and Product Displays
-
Most COHCC events are held at venues that restrict outside food or beverages.
-
Sampling is permitted only with prior written approval, health permits, and a Certificate of Insurance naming COHCC and the venue as additional insureds.
-
Approved exhibitors must stay within assigned areas and comply with all safety, health, and fire codes.
VI. Confidentiality and Ethics
Consistent with COHCC Board policy, all participants must respect the confidentiality of member and Chamber information, including personal or proprietary data shared during events or committee meetings.
Members should:
-
Avoid conflicts of interest or appearances of impropriety.
-
Conduct fundraising and networking activities lawfully and ethically.
-
Never misrepresent affiliation with COHCC for personal or financial gain.
VII. Reporting Misconduct
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, report it promptly to a Chamber staff member or event security.
-
Reports may be submitted in writing after the event to info@hispanicchamberdenver.org.
-
COHCC will treat all reports seriously, investigate promptly, and take appropriate action.
-
Retaliation against any person reporting misconduct in good faith is strictly prohibited.
VIII. Enforcement
COHCC reserves the right to take any appropriate action, including:
-
Verbal or written warning;
-
Removal from the event without refund;
-
Suspension or revocation of membership or exhibitor privileges;
-
Notification to law enforcement, if warranted.
Decisions of COHCC leadership are final.
IX. Agreement
By registering for, sponsoring, or attending any COHCC event, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this Code of Conduct and its enforcement provisions.
