Public Policy
Description
The work of the Public Policy Committee is one of the most important value propositions to a Hispanic-owned business member of the Chamber. The member is looking to the Chamber to make him or her aware of public policy issues that will affect the member’s business environment. The member is expecting that the Chamber will be more effective in influencing public policy than the member would be able to accomplish alone.
The Public Policy Committee is open to any Chamber member in good standing. Committee members may but are not required to be affiliated with any political party or group. The Committee’s focus is on how the Hispanic business owner is impacted by local, state and federal initiatives, propositions, regulations and legislation. This Committee is designed to have a broad cross section of opinions and voices in order to produce balanced and objective position recommendations to the Chamber Board of Directors and to identify areas to be monitored, explained, communicated and advocated on behalf of Hispanic-owned business members.
Committee meetings are regularly visited by public officials and are an excellent opportunity for members to be involved in shaping public policy. The Committee meets once per month, except during the General Session of the State Legislature, during which period the meetings are held twice monthly.
